<image:title>Home - + Hello there. - Well, hello there!</image:title>
<image:caption>First of all, thanks for dropping in! Second of all, this is not a site about plants:) Yes, I know it may be confusing with all of the cacti + plant pictures on the site. The truth is, I have a (quite massive) obsession with plants & believe, pretty strongly, that nature has much to teach us about the ebbs and flows of life. I am a Spiritual Director/Companion, pastor, wife, mother, & (obviously) plant + nature enthusiast. Those threads will always be interwoven into my practice. Third of all, if you are curious, below is a little ditty about who I am, what I am doing, & why (I believe) it matters.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - + Blog - Shedding.</image:title>
<image:caption>Leaves are falling. Colors are turning. We are (very quickly) moving into my favorite season; f a l l. There is something so magical to me about the transformation that completely encompasses our daily lives. The air is cooler, the colors brighter, & the first fire dazzling off its wondrous aroma and crackling sounds. I so love F A L L. But today, as I sit reflecting on my own current (and quite chaotic) transformation, I am stoped by a loud hustling of orange, yellow, red, brown leaves falling from the massive oak trees outside my window. Leaf after leaf falling off the tree’s big, now barren, branches. The word “shedding” instantly comes to mind. How natural this “shedding” is for the trees. So beautifully & rhythmically a tree completely transforms from its once glowing green leaves to yellow to orange to red to brown to n o t h i n g. Just like that, a tree is left standing bare and vulnerable; ready to embrace the frigid winter with hopes of a life-giving spring. How deeply my soul resonates with this “shedding.” This releasing of identity, plans, dreams, schedules, expectations… all of it slowly leaving my grip, my control. Slowing transforming before my very eyes. But oh how UN-natural this shedding feels. I, unlike the trees, cling to my beautifully colored leaves. The work and investment I have spent an entire season growing and nurturing and producing; crinkled leaf by crinkled leaf fights its way out my tightly closed grip. I know in my heart, chasing these crinkled leaves won’t make them stay; for a season has passed and new one yet to begin. & So, today, as I wrestle with my crinkled pile of leaves that have welcomed transformation far better than I; I am forced to find a way to embrace the “shedding.” To allow the beautiful yellows and reds and oranges to fall to the ground while I, nakedly and quite vulnerably, await the hope of spring. But the surprising sensation that exists in this moment is not of remorse or fear or anger (though they do pass through); but rather it is one of f r e e d o m. One Of peace. Of hope. Of J O Y. A deep, unexplainable joy is found in the transformational process of shedding. It’s a joy I didn’t quite expect & one that comes as quickly and as steadily as the crinkled leaves fall from my hands. & So fellow journeyer, I remind you, too, of the trees natural shedding transformation through seasons of life. Through seasons of life and growth & seasons of loss and death. Let us, then, season after season, shed what needs to be shed while making room for the sacred rest, vulnerability, and bareness that must take place before the spring’s grand (and quite beautiful) arrival.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - + Spiritual Direction - Spiritual Direction.</image:title>
<image:caption>WHAT is Spiritual Direction? Spiritual Direction is the sacred + safe space to listen, grow, ponder, reflect, process & hopefully become more aware to the movements of God/the Divine in our daily lives. In the words of Margaret Guenther, spiritual direction is simply “holy listening.” In my practice, Spiritual Direction/Companionship, is offering you the space to process, heal, cry, discuss, and pause as you need in order to become more aware of God’s divine presence. It’s a safe, sacred space to be present with one another and open to wherever God, the Divine healer and director, may be leading. “What exactly do spiritual directors do? The simple and most direct answer I can give is that they help others attend to God’s presence and revelation and prepare to respond to [God]. In other words, they help people attune themselves to God.” David Benner from Sacred Companions WHY is it important? Quite simply; because we need one another. I believe we are all on a journey & at different turning points on this journey we need a companion to come alongside us & help us to cultivate presence + awareness as we navigate various seasons in life. For many, spiritual direction is sought out in seasons where deconstruction or spiritual shifts are taking place. For others, it’s in seasons of transformation or when discernment is needed. Spiritual direction can also be helpful in simply reconnecting with God or in the space to process fears, uncertainties, doubts, past religious trauma, and/or upcoming change. The bottom line: spiritual direction is for all people, on all walks of life, in all seasons. It’s the sacred space of holy listening, healing, growing, & allowing someone else to sit alongside us, noticing the movements of God while we do. HOW does it (practically) work? It works how you want it to:) I really do believe in following your lead as you, so generously, allow me to travel the beautiful, sacred journey right alongside you. Typically, I incorporate silence, reflection, and at times nature into our time together. Meetings are usually 1-1.5 hours in a cozy (plant filled) space that allows us the freedom to be present with one another… usually with tea or coffee if desired.</image:caption>
